21 Royal at the Disneyland Resort

In the mid-1960s, legendary dream weaver Walt Disney envisioned a private,New Orleans–inspired retreat within his “Magic Kingdom” where he and wife Lillian could entertain Hollywood and executive royalty. A half-century after his passing, Disney “Imagineers” resurrected his plans and completed detailed designs to bring 21 Royal to life in early 2017.

Though haute cuisine, fine wines, and artisanal cocktails are involved, the venue is not a restaurant but an intimate evening for up to 12 people. All the sensory elements of the Disney experience come together in a customized seven-course tasting menu with a generous side of storytelling courtesy of Disneyland Resort/Culinary Director of Signature Restaurants Andrew Sutton, Chef de Cuisine Justin Monson, and Sommelier Matt Ellingson. The 2,200-square-foot venue is also outfitted with an exquisite courtyard and rare, tastefully  displayed Disney memorabilia. CEOs and planners looking to reward their top team members with an ultimate summer or fall blockbuster experience can call 714/300.7749 for more details on booking the bespoke $15,000 evening.

The Mayfair Hotel

Thanks to a $40M renovation, The Mayfair Hotel simultaneously embodies its illustrious past as a downtown destination while also representing its continuing evolution. Originally built in the 1920s as a companion to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, it has been re-imagined as a charming alternative to large-scale corporate hotels that offers a generous sampling of the city’s blossoming art scene. The works of artist Kelly Graval (a.k.a. “RISK”) hang in the public areas, and he’s tasked with curating upcoming temporary expositions featuring other innovative local artists. The property’s 295 rooms range in size from 450 to 1,200 square feet, many with panoramic views. Although its restaurant was still under renovation at press time, the hotel’s location itself is a fantastic amenity. It is walking distance from Staples Center, LA Live, numerous museums, the 7th Street Restaurant and Shopping Corridor, South Park, the Fashion District, the Historic Core and Arts District. Its close proximity to the 7th Street/Metro Center subway station connects it to the greater Los Angeles area.

The InterContinental

The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown Hotel is poised to (literally) elevate the luxury business hotel experience when it opens this summer. For starters, it will be the largest InterContinental hotel in the Americas, inside the tallest building west of Chicago – Wilshire Grand – at 1,100 feet and 73 stories. The sumptuously decorated 889-room property will also feature the 73rd floor Sky Deck Bar (the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere), a French-inspired steakhouse, roughly 95,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting and event spaces encompassing a 21,379-square-foot Grand Ballroom, and the essential signature Club InterContinental Lounge. It also has the distinction of being the first LEED-Gold Certified for Building Design and Construction in downtown Los Angeles.
