InterContinental – The Wharf

The InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf opens in October 2017, just in time for the planning of key government initiatives and Fiscal Year 2018. The new property integrates contemporary, sustainably conceived aesthetics that complement the “grand hotel” feeling of historic sister property Willard InterContinental.

Its location (in the emerging “Wharf” mixed-use development along a one-mile stretch of the Potomac River), 278 rooms and suites, rooftop pool, and extensive dining options are sure to please guests on both sides of the aisle – business and leisure. It is also safe to assume that its business amenities, including more than 17,000 square feet of event space, 10 meeting rooms with natural light, ballrooms with waterfront views, and a well-equipped business center, are certain to win votes among discerning travelers.

The Point Resort

The Point Resort has been a member of  exclusive global luxury hotelier Relais & Châteaux’s cadre of 50 North American resorts since 1983. The long-standing well-renowned property closed for three months for multi-million dollar renovations, and is now back. The Point reopened this June. The former Adirondack “Great Camp” owned by William Avery Rockefeller and designed by architect William G.  Distin in Saranac Lake, NY, will welcome guests into a living piece of history replete with priceless art and antiques.

One of the many perks of a stay at The Point Resort is access to the great outdoors

Eleven distinctive guest rooms and the coveted Boathouse (supplanting the presidential suite) are spread among four buildings, each with a broad lake view, generous hand-built bed, and expansive private bath likely outfitted with the camp’s original brass or chrome fixtures. Grand meals are served at the property’s “Great Hall,” where Executive Chef Loic Leperlier utilizes local and regional ingredients. Near the property, guests can enjoy the great outdoors antiquing, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, or fishing.

Traditions and customs of the Old West converge with today’s culinary travel trends with new signature restaurant WYLD and programs like “Whiskey and Wood Burning” (guests can etch a custom design or use letters and numbers to brand a special message into a set of rustic aspen wood coasters or a cutting board). The spa recently introduced a “Mountain Mindfulness Package” that includes two nights’ accommodations, a choice of two 60-minute signature treatments, a private 45-minute wellness class, a 30-minute session at the spa’s oxygen bar, and use of the spa’s soothing rock-lined grotto and hydrotherapy pools.
