This spring the Hudson River Park Trust is set to begin work on Gansevoort Peninsula, a new beach in Manhattan. It’s the island’s first public beach, adding 5.5 acres of accessible space, including a dog run, a field, and even a strip of sand at the water. As the name implies, the park, designed by James Corner’s Field Operations, juts out into the Hudson River. The public beach is budgeted at $70M and is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
