The pandemic continues to create a myriad of options for work-from-anywhere environments. While we all reevaluate our long-term working environments, now, more than ever, is the time to make the most of the freedom and flexibility of our indefinite “out of office.” For the latest installment of Innovative Office, we’ve chosen this architecturally stunning compound, nestled into the cliffs of one of Mexico’s most compelling, low-density, and under-the-radar communities, Careyes. Finished just in time for the new millennium, in 1999, Sol de Oriente was designed by Jean Claude Galivert and Gian Franco Brignone (founder of Careyes). The panoramic property is perched at the top of the community, at the Peninsula de las Estrellas, overlooking Playa Careyitos, with 360-degree views in every direction.

Location: Costa Careyes, Jalisco about 100 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Scope: The sprawling residence features 66,500 square feet of covered living space, including a three-bedroom main house as well as a private tower suite and two detached bungalows.

Design: Architecture was created by Jean Claude Galibert and Gian Franco Brignone.

Inquiries: Sol de Oriente is offered at $7.5M through Careyes Real Estate.

Notable Features
-Built in 1999, the home is considered one of the crown jewels of the Careyes community, which was established in 1974 and includes 65 villas, 40 casitas, and 35 suites at the El Careyes Club & Residences.

-Careyes is a private resort community nestled along nine miles of Pacific Coast, where the low-density setting offers an inherently socially distanced environment.

-The home’s most defining feature is the 10,000-square-foot rounded swimming pool, which is accessed directly from the main home’s suites, as well as the living areas and outdoor lounging space.

-The property’s four separate structures allow for a multitude of functions, including spaces for a private home office and home school, while still enjoying the views and tranquil setting.

-A private funicular descends down the side of the property to the tower accommodations.
