“Incline” by Joe Lloyd

His first solo exhibition, in 2014, garnered Joe Lloyd high praise across the board, and it’s not hard to see why. Abstract without being alienating, Lloyd’s works are beautifully complex. In using digital platforms to design his paintings before putting brush to canvas, Lloyd has found the balance between new technology and old technique. Lloyd’s use of dynamic geometrics and vibrant colors makes for compelling and eye-catching art.

“Crowd #9 (Sunset Five)” by Alex Prager

Alex Prager’s work is suffused with an uncanny artifice, everything almost genuine, almost candid. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Prager’s photography and film installations are clearly reflective of the cinematic culture of the City of Angels. Her works depict a world of cinematic surrealism, eerily familiar and altogether captivating.

“Space Cube” by Carmen Stiffelman

Born in Romania but raised in Israel from the age of three, Carmen Stiffelman has lived in Los Angeles for the past few decades. Inspired to begin her artistic career after working with a physical therapist, the origins of Stiffelman’s story are incorporated into her sculptures. Her pieces capture the kinetic energy of the human body, blending anatomy and artistry in each creation. This piece received 2nd place at the Imagine the Fantastic Exhibition at the LH Horton Jr Gallery.

“Oil Painters Don’t Need Water” by Christine Wang

Visually unique and clever, Christine Wang’s series of paintings are also extremely timely. Wang was born in Washington, D.C., and studied in Beijing, New York, and Los Angeles, giving her a breadth of cultural experience that she injects into her work. Her works blend familiar visuals with social commentary, often sending a literal message with text incorporated into her paintings.
