Aston Martin has mastered the capabilities of smooth precision on terra firma. Now, the British automaker is taking a deep dive into the luxury boating market. In partnership with Quintessence Yachts and Mulder design, the company has formulated its first model speedboat, the AM37. Having built its reputation over the past 100-plus years as a company that emphasizes power, speed, and luxury, the soon-to-be-revealed AM37 is no exception. While not the first British carmaker to attach its brand to a boat (in 2014, Rolls-Royce announced a $5mm superboat dubbed the “Aeroboat” crafted and powered by an 1,100-horsepower engine), Aston’s AM37 stands to compete with any vessel on the high seas. Quintessence Yachts come standard with interactive voice control and activation, a fully HD-integrated touch screen with navigation and multimedia system, and remote controlled functions. Mariella Mengozzi, CEO at Quintessence Yachts, said of the partnership, “We are sure that the Aston Martin ethos of ‘Power, Beauty and Soul’ can be successfully translated into the yachting environment in a very special way.” The construction of these boats mimics the classic design used in Aston Martin automobiles, featuring stiff composite materials, such as carbon fiber, in their composition. Quintessence comes into the equation with their unique vacuum infusion technology to construct a strong hull. Aston Martin, keen on making a splash in line with their British brethren, will reveal the AM37 this September at the Monaco Yacht show.
